The Village of Rio Grande is now accepting applications and resumes for (1) Full-Time General Maintenance/Assistant Maintenance Worker. Pay will be based on experience and qualifications for 40 hours per week including some weekends. Benefits include Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS), sick, vacation, and personal leave, single health insurance, and single life insurance. Valid driver’s license required. GENERAL MAINTENANCE/ASST. MAINTENANCE WORKER
JOB DESCRIPTION-GENERAL
This position shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following general requirements:
1. The General Maintenance/Assistant Maintenance Worker shall be responsible to:
A. Assist the Water/Wastewater Superintendent and assistant in the operation and maintenance of the water plant and water distribution system, including the water reservoir.
B. Assist the Water/Wastewater Superintendent and assistant in the operation of the sewer plant and collection system.
C. Assist in the timely and accurate reading and reporting of water and sewer usage as determined by metering devices.
D. Employ proper public relation guidelines in dealing with water and sewer customers.
E. Supervise temporary employees as required and directed by the Water/Wastewater Superintendent or Assistant.
F. Perform additional duties as directed by the water/wastewater superintendent or assistant.
2. The General Maintenance Worker shall report DIRECTLY to the Water/Wastewater Superintendent, or in his absence, to the Assistant Water/Wastewater Superintendent, and indirectly to the Board of Public Affairs, Mayor, and Council.
3. The General Maintenance worker shall perform the following duties related to repair and maintenance of Village property as required.
A. Install street signs.
B. Remove snow, apply cinders or other material.
C. Mark and line streets and walkways.
D. Perform routine maintenance of Village equipment.
E. Replace and repair sidewalks.
F. Repair and maintain Village streets.
G. Mowing and weed eating specified areas.
H. Maintain Village parks and ball fields, including those lands associated with the water and sewer systems.
I. Supervise General Maintenance workers and any temporary employees in fulfillment of duties associated to repair and maintenance of Village walks, streets, and lands.
J. Perform such additional duties as assigned by the Water/Wastewater Superintendent in regards to sidewalks, streets, and lands.
4. In addition to the generally outlined requirements listed above, specific duties are required of the Assistant Water/Wastewater Superintendent.
